Perth Photographer | Sebastian James {a birth story}

If you have been following me on insta or facebook you’ll know that at the end of last year I took a last minute trip to Perth to be with my sister who, at the time, was 16 weeks pregnant and in hospital.

Anna, due to health complications, was always going to have a hard pregnancy. As a result of a myriad of issues she was placed on bed rest from 16 weeks. Her numerous doctors were not optimistic about her making it to 27 weeks (which is about the time her baby would’ve had a chance to survive) … we hoped and prayed… believing in a God who is good all the time regardless of outcome.

At 28 weeks and 5 days, Anna was rushed to hospital and delivered her beautiful baby boy Sebastian James. Anna and Dan, her husband, had been through an incredible ordeal .

Two days later I managed to go into NICU with Anna and document how she cared for Seb and looked after him. It’s crazy how tiny he seemed… I’d seen pictures Anna had taken, but he seemed even tinier in real life. I will never forget his tiny hand barely covering my fingernail as he held my finger.

Early this year, a few weeks after Seb came home I got to go and take the family photos that Anna had been longing for… no tubes, or oxygen or hospital clothes…

Just Daniel, Anna and Sebastian.

Brisbane Family Photographer | life:narrated {Sam & Erin}

Recently an old school friend (I won’t reveal how long ago I was in school ha!) of mine contacted me to get some photos done.  It was so lovely to meet Sam’s beautiful wife, Erin, and such a pleasure to document a little of this time before the welcome their first baby!

We had a great time taking some images in Cold Rock, where Sam read his baby his own childhood favourite book, and then wondered down to the water for some more photos! So here is a little sneak peek at just a few images… more to come soon!

Toowoomba Family Photographer | life:narrated {first moments}

Sometimes documenting a birth doesn’t exactly work out… Birth is an unknown, we can’t plan when or even how it happens.  Recently I was on-call to document a baby arriving… and while I did not end up documenting his birth I was there for some early moments on day 2 of his life…

Personally… I think its great to have our images printed out… even better when its a beautiful quality album.  That’s why my package includes an 10inch by 10inch lay-flat album.

Within pretty much weeks of your wedding you not only have digital files from me, your have a stunning album to show your friends and family.  I often end up printing identical albums for parents (at an extra cost).

I design your album, considering the best images and layout which I send to you for approval, once you have made any desired changes the album is sent to print… with your choice of linen or leather cover, in a variety of colours.

This is an album I have just received … and before sending it to the client I’ve taken some images for you!

Toowoomba Wedding Photographer || Ethan & Tara {one frame}

Just one frame from the weekend… these guys were pretty amazing! Amid mist and heavy rain they threw their gumboots on, grabbed some umbrellas and we managed to make some images outside… and as you can see nothing could stop those smiles!

Looking forward to sharing more later …

Ethan & Tara it was such a privilege to witness and document your day!

Toowoomba Birth Photographer || life:narrated {Fletcher}

Back a few months, after days of waiting and watching my mobile and my bag packed ready by the door… I got the text “on our way to the hospital” … I was bursting with excitement because I knew I was going to witness something amazing.  There really is nothing like witnessing a new life entering this world.  I wouldn’t have thought it got more awesome than that! … But it did… it does! You see nearly 9 years ago I was on the other side of the world when I got the text that this same women was bring her first born into the world.  I clearly remember being awake half the night and having a good cry and sook because I felt so far away. I couldn’t be there to congratulate her and hold her little one … and I had no idea when I would see them next!

Fast forward quite a few years and I couldn’t quite believe that I would be so close when she was having her fourth baby… and that she had asked me to be there when he arrived!!… I wasn’t going to miss this for the world.

To my dear soul sister… thank you for allowing me to share this.

People… turn your volume up and get some tissues.

Melbourne Family Photographer | life:narrated {Webster Family}

A little while ago I flew down to Melbourne… lucky enough to combine turning 30 and celebrating with my mum and sister … AND getting to do a life:narrated session!

In typical Melbourne style… there was 90% chance of severe thunderstorm on the morning of the shoot… so the beach location was cancelled and we moved to the Melbourne Museum!… which turned out to be a fantastic location… I captured the Websters’ ordinary Saturday enjoying time together as a family…!

If you’re interested in a life:narrated session … shoot me an email … I’d love to talk logistics with you!
